Build the shirt price from the job

A sublimation shirt quote depends on more than the garment. Print size affects paper and ink use. Artwork cleanup and layout create setup time. Pressing, peeling, checking and packing create active time. A replacement garment is more expensive than a small paper misprint, so use a realistic failure allowance.

Start here: enter the landed garment cost and the consumables used for the actual print size. Then pay for setup and active labor before choosing markup or target margin.

What belongs in a sublimation shirt quote?

  • Garment: the delivered cost of the polyester or sublimation-ready shirt, including size-related price differences when relevant.
  • Print consumables: ink, paper, tape and protective paper for the print area.
  • Setup: artwork cleanup, sizing, test printing and arranging the production run.
  • Per-shirt labor: lint rolling, aligning, pressing, cooling, inspection and packing.
  • Expected failures: misalignment, ghosting, scorching, color or garment defects.
  • Order costs: packaging, selling fees and any shipping cost you absorb.

Epson’s maker guidance describes conventional dye-sublimation as suitable for polyester fabrics or hard goods with a polyester coating and recommends white or light-colored polyester fabric. Confirm the actual garment specification and test the complete blank, ink, paper, press and design combination instead of assuming every shirt is interchangeable.

Do not use one price for every design size

A small left-chest print and a full-front print may share the same shirt blank, but they do not use the same paper, ink or production time. You can save reusable presets for your own common sizes later; for now, change the consumable input whenever the print area changes.

Retail versus team or event quantities

Higher quantity can spread setup cost across more shirts. It does not make the garment, print or per-shirt labor free. Before offering a team, school or event discount, test the whole batch in the wholesale pricing calculator and compare the resulting profit and hourly return.
